What is Information System?
Some Definitions of Information Systems:
- IS is a system with a specific reference to information and the complementary networks of hardware and software that people and organizations use to collect, filter, process, create and also distribute data[1].
Information system, an integrated set of components for collecting, storing, and processing data and for providing information, knowledge, and digital products[2].
When you interact with Information and Communications Technology, you are involved not with a single piece of equipment, but with an ever expanding system of interconnected parts.
Information systems, like all other systems, are assembled from parts, or components.
Based the scale you choose, these components can be:
- Hardware of the computer and peripherals
- Software of the computer
- Network and network devices
- People interacting with the computer
